Northwest Arkansas — Though the
online versions of the Gentry
Courier-Journal and the De
catur Herald will remain avail
able without charge, access to
content in daily papers in the
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
family at www.nwanews.com
will undergo changes Today
that will require those with no
subscription to the daily papers
to pay a fee for online access.
Though the change over has
temporarily made the Life in
Gentry Web log unavailable,
the site is again soon be avail
able without charge but at a
slightly different address:
ogs/lifeingentry.
Subscribes to any of the dai
ly newspapers involved in the
site - the Northwest
Arkansas Times, the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette and The
Benton County Daily Record
- will receive free access to
the content on nwanews.com
by going through a one-time
registration process on the site.
Any print-edition subscriber who is already registered to read arkansasonline.com, the Democrat-Gazette's Web site for its central Arkansas and statewide editions, will automatically be registered for nwanews.com and can log in at either site.
Those who do not subscribe to a print edition can choose an online-only subscription for $5.95 per month. The online-only subscription covers access to nwanews.com and arkansasonline.com.
Although nwanews.com is changing to a subscriptionbased site, some content will continue to be available to all site visitors, including blogs, breaking news and some special coverage of events.
The subscription approach applies to original newspaper content on an affiliated Web site that focuses on coverage of the Arkansas Razorbacks, www.wholehogsports.com;
however, the popular Slophouse blog will be available to all visitors at no charge. Other blogs, such as the TunedIn artsand entertainment blog, will remain freely accessible.
