ANNUAL BIRTHDAY PARTY-Gravette Day Is History

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

— It's history! Gravette's 116th birthday party Saturday, August 8, was a pleasant day for hundreds of persons who attended the annual celebration.

Following the usual good Gravette Day parade at noon, the park was overflowing with revelers and celebrants came and went throughout the day.

They attended the car show in Old Town Park, results of which will be published when available. They visited the Gravette Historical Museum. They spent time at the pancake breakfast where they lingered to visit with long-absent friends who were here for many class reunions.

Vendors in the park, and those scattered around town, served food and drink and provided everything from cotton candy to pony rides. Commercial booths offered their wares to those who were interested and sliding down the huge inflatables provided fun for the kids.

It was a good day, one that helped build memories for the young and brought back memories for the oldsters. It was a reminder that "The Grass is Greener in Gravette", that Gravette is a good place to call home.
