Highfill planning 'Hay Daze' events

— Highfill Hay Daze will be Saturday, Sept. 12, in the Highfill City Park located at the corner of South Main and Fourth Street.

Events planned for the day are listed below:

◊Pancake Breakfast - Senior Citizens fundraising from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Community Building.

◊Parade at 9 a.m., with lineup at the Highfill Cemetery at 8:30 a.m.

◊Live Music all day - Highfill Baptist Church from 10 a.m.

to 12 noon; Gerald Edmondson from noon until 4 p.m.; and Left of Center from 6 p.m. until dusk.

◊Silent Auction from 10 a.m.

until 2 p.m.

◊Car Show starting at 10 a.m., with judging at 3 p.m.

(pre-registration is requested by Sept. 5, but entrants may register on the day of the show).

◊ Tiny Tot Contest at 11 a.m.

(casual dress) - Division One, ages 2 and 3, and Division Two, ages 4 and 5, with winners of each division competing for the Mister and Miss Highfill Hay Daze Tiny Tot (register by Sept.

5, entry fee is a $5 donation, which will be given to www.Hannahshopefoundation.org.)

◊Fire Muster at 1 p.m.

◊Miss Highfill Hay Daze (ages 16-18) and Teen Miss Highfill Hays Daze (ages 13-15) Pageants begin at 4 p.m. Entrants must register by Sept. 5.

The entry fee is $25.

◊Fireworks at dusk - provided by the town of Highfill.

◊Pony rides, games, Bounce House, giant slide, food and craft vendors, face painting, and animals from the Wild Wilderness Safari - all day.
