Business burglaries are still a mystery

— Police are investigating five cases of burglary and theft which occurred in Gentry in the pre-dawn hours of Aug. 6.

According to the police, a person or persons, using a pry tool, gained entry through back doors at Curran Feed Store, Eddie Greenhaw Insurance Agency, Hairbenders, Parks Lumber and Pioneer Pizza and took small amounts of cash from the businesses. Money was also taken from the jukebox and video arcade at Pioneer Pizza, according to police.

Four of the five businesses are located on Gentry's Main Street. Parks Lumber is only a block south of Main Street.

In most cases, the damage caused by the break-ins was greater than the loss of money stolen from the businesses. Police estimated damages to replace a door at Pioneer Pizza was between $500 and $600.

The police do have "some persons of interest," according to police sergeant Clay Stewart. Video surveillance was also obtained and has been submitted to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory for analysis and identification.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call the Gentry Police Department at 736-8400. Sgt. Stewart and Officer Rachelle Raimer are investigating the cases.
