— David Edmond Garner

David Edmond Garner, 86, of Watts, Okla., died Aug. 20, 2009, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab.

He was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Mc-Cloud, Okla., to James and Susie Carr Garner. He was a miner, a chicken farmer and worked for Peterson Farm's for seven years as a groundskeeper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; a son, Kenneth Garner; a daughter, Gloria Garner; two brothers, James Garner and Melvin Garner; and a great-granddaughter.

He is survived by two sons, David Garner of West Siloam Springs, Okla., and Ronnie Garner and wife Teri of West Siloam Springs; four daughters, Barbara Harless of Watts, Okla., Beverley Holzkamper and husband Robert of Watts, Brenda Mitchell and husband Wayne of Watts, and Belinda Woodral and husband Bill of Gentry, Ark.; a brother, Daniel Garner and wife Rita of Houstonville, Ky.; 19 grandchildren;

38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service was held at General Assembly of the First Born Church on Aug. 23, 2009, with David Garner officiating.

Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home, of Siloam Springs, Ark., was in charge of cremation arrangements.
