4-H members awarded

— On Monday Nov. 16, the Decatur 4-H Club held its annual 4-H Achievement Banquet at the Decatur Community Building.

There were approximately 10 members and 20 quests in attendance. Lensey Watson, the retiring president, presided over the banquet. The banquet started with prayer led by Haley Burden, with a potluck dinner following, with lasagna, spaghetti, salad, many side dishes and bread.

After dinner, Adam Kaufman with the Farm Service Agency spoke about loans that 4-H and FFA members could apply for to help with their agricultural projects. These loans have a low interest rate.

Darlene Holly presented mugs to our future 4-H members and canvas 4-H backpacks to the Cloverbuds. Terri Burden then presented the Junior and Senior members with canvas 4-H backpacks for all their hard work and commitment to their projects.

The installation ceremony of the new officers for the new club year was held. New officers are Jayme Burden - president; Lensey Watson - vice president; Haley Burden - secretary and treasurer; Alisun Watson - photographer; Emily Jessen and Martha Smith - song leaders; and Zachary Luker as recreation leader.

Jayme Burden then thanked guests and the speaker for coming and concluded the banquet.

The club extends special thanks to the City of Decatur for allowing it to meet and the city’s community building.
