Gentry teams beat Lincoln

— Both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams picked up wins at their Nov. 24 non-league contests at Gentry High School.

The Lady Pioneers beat the Lincoln Wolves 50-40. Gentry’s girls started off slow, outscored by Lincoln in the first quarter 16-9. But Gentry picked up the lead before the end of the half by scoring another 13 points to Lincoln’s 4. Gentry built on that lead in the third quarter and held on to that lead through the fourth to pick up their fifth win of the season.

Terra Jones led the lady Pioneers in scoring with 12. Loren Cripps had 11, andKelsea Whitten added 9 points with two three-pointers, a two-point field goal and a free-throw. Jones also leads the Lady Pioneers for the season with a 10-point game average.

The Gentry boys also got off to a slow start, but came back to beat the Lincoln Wolves 63-58 in their Nov. 24. contest at Gentry High School. Gentry senior Robbie White picked up 20 points for the Pioneers. Joe Morris added 14, and Kevin Scherer 12. Scherer leads the Pioneers for the season with a 19-point game average.

The Pioneers, at 6 and 0, are scheduled to face Shiloh Christian on Dec. 8 in Springdale and Greenland on Dec. 11 back in Gentry. The Lady Pioneers will play Greenland in Gentry on Dec. 11.
