Wednesday, December 9, 2009

— The Decatur Assembly of God Sixth Annual Dinner Theater, featuring the comedy “The Money in Uncle George’s Suitcase,” will begin on Dec. 11.

The production is directed by Aimee Anderson, and the cast of church members includes Kirk and Pam Anderson, June Walls, Kyle Coslett, Jimmie Anderson, Chandler Wright, Betty Duncan, Kris Addington and Linda Todd.

Those attending the play will enjoy anelegant dinner either before or after the performance. Proceeds from the event will benefit the church’s music and drama department.

“When Uncle George invites his whole family for a weekend of fun at his rustic cabin, he actually wants them together so he can read his will. But between the bequeathing and his rambling stories, George drops the bomb that somewhere on the property is a suitcase holding four hundred and eighty thousand dollars!

“What follows is a hilarious farce of pettiness, slander and greed. The relativesend up wrestling each other, falling down the stairs and getting stuck in the furniture.

“‘Yep, we’re gonna have lots of fun!’ says George as he’s seen carrying a shovel out the front door. But George’s gift is much more important that mere money, even though the relatives don’t see it that way - at first,” the handout states.

Show times are at 6 and 6:30 p.m., on Dec. 11 and 12, and 6 p.m. on Dec. 13. Reservations can be made by calling 549-7070. Tickets are also on sale at the Gallery Cafe.
