GRAVETTE — The accompanying photos show work progressing on two new roads at the Gravette downtown school complex. The top photo shows a road which will be located just west of McAbee Field; the other just east of the field. Both will connect the upper elementary and middle school campuses with Birmingham Street S.E. and should help alleviate traffic congestion in that area. The roads will be paved when the base work is completed.

Schedules Toys For Children Dinner

A “Toys for Children from Santa” fundraiser taco dinner will be held Sunday, December 13, at the Old School Cafeteria in Sulphur Springs.

The dinner is sponsored by the Sulphur Springs Fire Department with Indian taco chef Ed Proctor in charge of cooking. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost of the meal, which includes dessert and drink, is $8 for adults and $5 for children and senior citizens.

The department also announced Santa will deliver toys in the park the following Saturday, December 19, from noon to 2 p.m., according to Mark James of the SSFD.

Free Flu Shots Available Friday At OCH Hospital

Swine Flu (H1N1) vaccinations will be available this Friday, December 11, at the Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

There is NO charge for the vaccinations which will be administered between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to ANYONE who wishes to be vaccinated, said Carrie Richardson, Director of Communications.

She also noted that “Any children 6 months through 9 years of age who received their first round of H1N1 vaccine through the schools can have their second and final dose this Friday.

“Persons need to come to the front desk at OCHand ask for Angie King, RN. Children who receive the vaccine will need to have a guardian present to sign paperwork.”

The vaccine will be given as long as the supply is available. If you have questions call King at 344-6810.

County Vaccinations

Free H1N1 and season flu vaccinations will also be given this Friday by the Arkansas Health Department at their offices at Eastgate Church of Christ in Siloam Springs and at the Rogers Activity Center. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Persons should bring their Medicaid, Medicare of AR Kids First cards.

Angel Tree Is Needing Attention At Hospital

The “Angel Tree” in Gravette has been moved to the lobby of the Ozarks Community Hospital of Gravette, according to Carrie Richardson, Director of Communications.

“Angels can be picked upfrom the tree and gifts purchased can be dropped off at the hospital front desk,” she said.

The Angel Tree will benefit families in the Gravette school district, she added.
