— Claudia Mae Duncan

Claudia Mae Duncan, 97, of Gentry, died Dec. 13, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

She was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Marshall, to William Hinchey and Noma Horton Hinchey. She moved to the Gentry area from Clovis, N.M., 55 years ago. She was a farmer, homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Gentry. She married Dinzle Duncan in Marshall in 1931.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include one son, William Clifford Duncan of Gentry; one daughter, Erma Lee Tiller of Lowell; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at Gentry Church of Christ, with Bruce Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Gentry Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home.

Dorothy Marie Hawkins

Dorothy Marie Hawkins, 76, of Gentry, died Dec. 8, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale.

She was born April 9, 1933 in Sand Springs, Okla., the daughter of Randle Raines and Francis Reynolds Raines. She was an educator and retired from Gentry Public School, where she had worked in the school lunchroom. She was a member of Carr Lane First Baptist Church in Missouri and was also a member of First Baptist Church in Gentry. She married Nathan Donald “Don” Hawkins on July 14, 1950, in Westlake, La.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one twin sister, Roberta Lee Raines; and one brother, Robert “Bob” Randle Raines.

Survivors include her husband Nathan of the home; one daughter, Theresa Carol “Terrie” Ocheltree of Gentry; one son, Timothy Donald Hawkins of Springtown; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 11 at First Baptist Church in Gentry, with James Ogan, Dr. Robin Cowin, Gary Hawkins officiating. Burial followed at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Delphia Jean King

Delphia Jean King, 72, of Gravette, died on Dec. 10, 2009, in Gravette.

She was born Feb. 17, 1937, to Hoyet and Delphia Jean Hensley Greenwood. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was past president of VFW Auxiliary in Mesa, Ariz. She enjoyed music, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by a husband, Bill Russell; an infant brother; two brothers, Seldon Hoyet Greenwood and Stanley Greenwood; a sister, Glenda Greenwood; and her stepmother, Theda Rhodes.

She is survived by her husband, John King of Gravette; a stepson, Everett and his wife Barbara King of Bentonville; two daughters, Carolyn Kaye Monroe of Gravette, Cindy Gaye and her husband Darrell Stacy of Decatur; a brother, Douglas and his wife Kathy Rhodes of South Carolina; a sister, Olivia Pattyson of Rogers; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 15 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home Chapel in Gravette, with Charles Schenk officiating. Interment followed at Lee Cemetery in Gravette.

Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Gravette.

Terry Lee Lyons

Terry Lee Lyons, 57, of Colcord, Okla., died Dec. 11, 2009.

He was born Nov. 11, 1952, in Tahlequah, Okla., to Bill and Dennie Warren Lyons. He grew up and attendedTahlequah schools where he graduated high school. He worked as a produce supervisor at Save-A-Lot grocery as well as working at Price Cutters. He married Alice Gatewood on April 12, 2002, in Siloam Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing Skip-Bo with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Tony, of Colcord; a brother, Bill Lyons, of Peggs, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were Dec. 15 at Johnson Cemetery, east of Colcord, with Darrell Self officiating.

Arrangements were by Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay, Okla.

Betty Jo Payne

Betty Jo Payne, age 73, of Decatur died Dec. 8, 2009, at Highlands Nursing Center.

She was born in Dodge City, Kan., on April 4, 1936, to the late Elijah and Zada Jefferson Preecs. She operated Betty’s Flower Shop in Decatur for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth “Buster” Payne; a sister, Celeste Preecs; a brother, Don Preecs; and a grandson, James Howard.

Survivors include her children, Stephen Payne of Decatur, John Payne and wife Diana of Rogers, Sue Howard and husband Ray of Decatur; a sister, Donna Pennington of Springdale; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Dec. 5 at Glad Tidings Chapel in Decatur. Cremation arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Bentonville.

Vadie Trimble

Vadie Serinity Ann Trimble, 5 months, died Dec. 11, 2009, at the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

Vadie is survived by her parents, Jason and Sharon Trimble of Colcord, Okla.; a sister, Nevaeh Tnes of the home; four brothers, Archer Nathaniel, Decimus Maximus, Corvinus Malaki and Jason Keith II, all of the home.

Funeral services were held Dec. 15 at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, with Tim Estes officiating.

Billy Ray Wilson

Billy Ray Wilson, 71, of Salina, Okla., died Dec. 10, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Coker, Ala.

He was born June 25, 1938, in San Bernardino, Calif., the son of Leonard Harlton Wilson and Caroline Louise Gammon Wilson. He moved back to Alabama in October after spending the last 15 years in Salina. He lived in Tuscaloosa, Ala. from 1978 to 1993; northwest Arkansas from 1943 to 1978; and in San Bernardino from 1938 to 1943. He was in the National Guard from 1955 to 1967. He drove semitrucks for decades, served in various law enforcement positions in Benton County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy Joyce Cook Wilson, a son Ronny Ray Wilson and a brother James (Jimmy) Richard Wilson.

Survivors include four daughters, Carola Webber of Arlington, Texas, Tammy Driver of Coker, Debi Crookshank of Locust Grove, Okla., and Joyce Taylor of Tuscaloosa; three sons, Mike Wilson of Tuscaloosa, James Wilson of Benbrook, Texas, and Danny Beck of Tuscaloosa; three brothers, Emil Grubb of Cave Springs, Edmund Grubb of Siloam Springs, and Leonard Wilson of Beaufort, S.C.; and one sister, Karen Janisch of Neosho, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 14 at Falling Springs Community Church, near Decatur, with Bill Wright officiating. Burial followed at Falling Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donate may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association or the National Leukemia Association.

BIRTHS

Kevin and Jacque Smith, of Decatur, announce the birth of their daughter, Kylie Johanna Smith, on Dec. 6, 2009, at the Northwest Medical Center of Benton County, in Bentonville.

She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 19 inches long. She joins a sister, Jacey May Smith.

Grandparents are Brenda and the late Harry Ratliff of Vinita, Okla., and Robert and Kim Smith of Gravette. Great-grandparents are Cliff and Thena Weatherby of Miami, Okla., and Martha and the late Val Smith of Decatur.
