GRAVETTE — The Arkansas Cattlewomen’s Association announces its 2010 Arkansas Beef Ambassador Competition for youth between the ages of 9 and 20. There are three divisions: ages 9-12, ages 13-16 and ages 17-20.

“The Arkansas Beef Ambassador program strives to provide an opportunity for youth to educate consumers and youth about beef nutrition, food safety, the economic value of the beef industry and stewardship practices of the beef industry. Our goal is to utilize our beef ambassadors to tell the beef production story to consumers and youth through promotion, education, media and the online environment,” a spokesperson said.

The competition will be held February 27 at the Carroll County Cattlemen’s Building in Berryville.

The competition involves presentations (different length for the various divisions) as well as a question/answer exercise.

Monetary awards will be given in each division and the first place in the senior division will also receive a $1,500 scholarship.

Huntsville Approves Curfew

After months of complaints the Huntsville City Council has approved a curfew ordinance which makes it unlawful for any persons under age 18 to be in or remain upon the streets (etc.) after 11:30 p.m. until the following 5 a.m. unless accompanied by a parent, etc. There are provisions for those who might work during those hours.

Fines and penalties will be set by the Madison County District Court.
