Off The Cuff

— You see the words on this page practically every week: “Let Us Hear From You”. And, it’s true, we really like to get letters.

We want your opinions, your thoughts on things you’d like to see happen in Gravette, comments about the weather, about why you like to live in the area, why people won’t turn their car lights on when it’s rainy, etc., etc.

I recently read a column by Robert J. Smith in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Smith, aka The Guru, was responding to a letter about the lights on law. He noted it is not a primary law and motorists can’t be stopped just because their lights aren’t on. It bugs me.

During the past weekwhen it was cloudy, misty, etc., and before sunrise I saw several what I would call near-misses that could have been the result of a driver not being able to clearly see another vehicle which didn’t have its lights on.

‘Nuff about that. This column was to be about letters and to call attention to a nice letter from a lady who was impressed with our students, our school, our town. It is printed below.

It gives us a good feeling about ourselves and should inspire all of us to always be on good behavior when we visit other schools, etc. It shows character that, unfortunately, is sometimes missing.
