GRAVETTE — The December meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club was held Friday, the 18th, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center with five members present.

President Jeanne Hubbard opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and members sang “We Three Kings”. Jeanne’s devotion was a reading of Psalm 100.

Susan Holland answered roll call with a poem, “Celebrate Christmas”, Betty Howard with a joke, “It might be worse”, Jeanne with funny quotes from hospital charts and Eda Montag told of a Sunday School student hoping for a new teacher. Chia Greer said she was just “halfhere”.

Betty read the minutes of the November meeting and they were approved as read. There was no treasurer’s report.

Jeanne gave thanks to each of the officers and to all present for their support of projects to help the community. She gave each one a trio of ornaments from a small tree that served as the table centerpiece.

Susan gave the program, reading A Santa Suit Does Not a Santa Claus Make from Leo Buscaglia’s “Seven Stories of Christmas Love”.

Members took a quiz on fruits before adjourning to enjoy the Center’s annual Christmas dinner.

Church of Christ Offers “Living Free” Bible Study Class

A non-denominational interactive Bible study will be held at the Church of Christ starting Tuesday, January 5, and held every other Tuesday for the following six Tuesdays. Two class times are offered : 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The class is “Living Free” by Beth Moore and workbooks may be purchased for $10.80. Some scholarships are available.

Registration Deadline Is January 5 For ACT Test

Students who wish to take the ACT achievement test, which will be given February 6, must register before January 5, according to an announcement.

The ACT test has four sections, English, mathematics, reading and science, and takes about three hours. An optional writing test may be added. The cost is $32, or $47 with the writing test.

Consult your high school counselor or you may register online at www.actstudent.org. Late registration is available until January 15 for an extra $21 fee.

Harps Buys IGA Store In Siloam Springs

The IGA Super Center store in Siloam Springs, owned by Grady, Kathleen and Brian Lamb, will be sold to Harps Food Stores, according to an announcement last week by the Lamb family.

The Lambs opened the Super Center in 1984 and Grady will continue as store manager.
