— Monica Alcorn

Monica Alcorn, 47, of Gentry, died Dec. 18, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 30, 1962, the daughter of Buster and Rita Alcorn.

She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree. She enjoyed social work and helping people, gardening and horse races. She lived in Gentry for the last two years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by two sisters, Lisa Jackson and husband Randall of Gentry, Rhonda Warner and husband Perry of Pryor, Okla.; and one brother, Brian Alcorn and wife Leila of Carthage, Mo.

Her body was given to Anatomy Gift Registry for the benefit of medical science and education. A celebration of her life is being planned for the near future.

Arrangements were by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Claudia Mae Duncan

Claudia Mae Duncan, 97, of Gentry, Ark., died Dec. 13, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs.

She was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Marshall, to William and Noma Horton Hinchey. She moved to the Gentry area from Clovis, N.M., 55 years ago. She was a farmer, homemaker and a member of Church of Christ in Gentry. She married Dinzle Duncan in Marshall, in 1931.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by a son, William Duncan of Gentry; a daughter, Erma Tiller of Lowell; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 17, 2009, at the Gentry Church of Christ, with Bruce Potter officiating. Burial was at Gentry Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Emma Vann

Emma Vann, 90, of Eucha, Okla., died Dec. 16, 2009, at Monroe Manor Nursing Facility in Jay, Okla.

She was born June 17, 1919, in Adair County, Okla., to George and Susie Mounce.

She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith and was a member of Illinois River Baptist Church in Chewey, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Rufus Vann; five sons, Harold Manning, James Manning, Carl Manning, Johnny Manning, Gary Manning; two daughters, Coweta Sharp and Louella James; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Siloam Springs on Dec. 19, with Johnny Summerfield officiating. Burial was at Crittenden Cemetery in Chewey.

Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.
