Wednesday, December 30, 2009

— According to a report in the Gentry Courier-Journal, a Gentry man was a hero during a recent incident on a cruise ship.

According to the GCJ, “Jeff Black of Gentry became a hero when he and his wife Liz were on a Princess Cruise aboard the ship Ruby earlier this month.

According to Shirley Broadston, while disembarking in Granada, Black noticed a man - 70 and almost blind - fall overboard from another ship which was also unloading passengers there. Black quickly shoved his camera to his wife, dove overboard and rescued the man, saving his life.

As a result, he was treated like royalty for the rest of his cruise.

‘I am so proud to have him for a friend and neighbor,’ Broadston said.”
