— Colcord saw its four-game winning streak snapped at home last Friday against Tahlequah Sequoyah, however a new season awaits the Hornets on Friday.

The Hornets (6-4) begin play in the Class 2A playoffs Friday at Verdigris in Claremore, Okla.

It’s the Hornets’ second trip to Verdigris this season, the first coming on Sept. 18 in a 20-0 loss to the Cardinals.

Jay Sparkman and Kevin Stout ran for touchdowns in that game for the Cardinals, while Tyler Hanslovan kicked two field goals and two extra points.

The Cardinals scored 10 points in the second quarter to take a 10-0 lead and tacked on 10 more in the second half.

Last week against Tahlequah Sequoyah, Colcord fell behind 7-0 before a touchdown run by Canaan Sherrill tied the game 7-7 in the first quarter.

The Indians would go on to score the next 28 points to take the 35-7 win.
