— Ronald Dean Davis

Ronald Dean Davis, 65, of Edmond, Okla., died Nov. 9, 2009, at Oklahoma City after a brief illness.

He was born March 7, 1944 at Wichita, Kan., to Merle E. and Amo Harris Davis. He worked in sales for numerous companies and retired from Lance Foods in Edmond in March 2009. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 1967 to October 1970 and was aboard the U.S.S. Wasp CVS-18 and also aboard the U.S.S. Essex for the retrieval of the first manned mission in the Apollo program, Apollo 7, in October 1968. He was member of the First Christian Church in Edmond. He enjoyed wood-crafting, traveling and crappie fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother, Larry J. Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Belinda Whorton Davis of the home; two daughters, Lesia Lynette Davis of Edmond, and Joanna Davis Baugh and husband Branden of Oklahoma City; a brother and two sisters, Billie Davis and Nancy Ulrich of Wichita, and Carol Davis of Gentry; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were Nov. 14 in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Jerry Black officiating. Interment followed at the Huntsville Cemetery. Arrangements were by Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville, Ark.

Stacy Martin

Stacy L. Martin, 41, of Siloam Springs, died Nov. 15, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

She was born March 24, 1968, in San Jose, Calif., the daughter of Betty Kirkpatrick Smith and Bob Smith. She moved to Siloam Springs in 1976 from California and was a dispatcher and paramedic for the Siloam Springs Police Department. She enjoyed rodeos, and was named Miss Congeniality of the Rodeo of the Ozarks in the 1980s. She was a member of the Parelli Horsemanship Group. On June 17, 1989, she married Jon Martin in Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Louise Little. Survivors include her husband Jon of the home; one daughter, Corey Ann Martin of the home; her mother, BettySmith of Rogers; her father, Bob Smith of Salado, Texas; one brother, Rob Smith and wife Chris of Bentonville; her fatherin-law, Jon Martin and wife Sue of Lincoln.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at New Life Tabernacle, Siloam Springs, with Tim Estes and Ken Coppick officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Arvest Bank in Stacy’s name, for the Fireman’s Scholarship Fund, or to APCO for the Silent Key Fund for Dispatchers at 351 M. Williamson Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

Norman Peden

Norman Leslie Peden, 86, of Colcord, Okla., died Nov. 15, 2009, at his home.

He was born March 28, 1923, in Wathena, Kan., to Benjamin Franklin Peden and Arabelle Mary Olds Peden. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Prior to moving to Oklahoma, he was a resident of Topeka, Kan., where he worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 24 years. He married Beckie Loraine Wagoner in Hiawatha, Kan., on May 3, 1947. They were missionaries in Jamaica, West Indies, and served as house parents for Bethesda Boys Ranch for six years. He was a member of Christian Life Church of Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorcas, Ernestine, Bernice, Evelyn, and Eleanor; brothers, Claude, Stanley; and one son, Stephen Leslie Peden.

Survivors include his wife Beckie of the home; four daughters, Sandy Miller and husband Brian of Mounds, Okla., Judy Coy and husband Ronnie of Sapulpa, Okla., Terri Hammel and husband Chris of Mounds, Okla., and Kelly Soerens and husband Thomas of Fayetteville; one son, Greg Peden and wife Sandy of Gentry; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Christian Life Church, Siloam Springs, with Tim Sallee officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Dolores Joan Pierce

Dolores Joan Pierce, 79, of Siloam Springs, died Nov. 10, 2009, at Springdale Nursing and Rehab in Springdale.

She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Litchfield, Ill., to Perlie and Lena Vath Calcott.

She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Bible Church in Siloam Springs. She married Donald Pierce in Kansas City, Mo., on June 7, 1963.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Lorraine Beagle; and two brothers, Tom Calcott and Jim Calcott.

She is survived by four daughters, Peggy Bruffett, Donna Clinton, and Lori Pierce, all of Siloam Springs, and Karen DeMarco of Warrensburg, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Pollard of Siloam Springs.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Guy Plumlee

Guy Plumlee, 77, of Siloam Springs, died Nov. 15, 2009, at Bentonville Manor.

He was born Jan. 21, 1932 in Cowell to Samuel and Willie Peoples Plumlee. He married Wilma “Iomgene” Bohannon on June 23, 1963, in Jasper. He had worked in construction before he became the owner/operator of his own truck. He enjoyed working outside.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gus Plumlee; a son, Sammy Ray Plumlee, and a sister, Jean Tennison.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Jimmy Plumlee and wife Jacque of Siloam Springs; three grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Hyman of Hells Point, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Siloam Springs with CharlesCash and Bill Forbes officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to Washington Regional Hospice 34 Colt Square, Fayetteville, AR 72703. Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Linda Sue Snider

Linda Sue Snider, 69, of Siloam Springs died Nov. 11, 2009, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab.

She was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Bethal, Texas, to John W. Turner and Erma Gurganus Ray.

She retired from the John Brown University cafeteria staff after 12 years of service.

Survivors include three daughters, Gwen Boroughs and husband Luther of Camden, Teresa Smith and husband Kenny of Siloam Springs, and Nanci Brigance and husband Shawn of Gentry; four sons, Randy Koci of Houston, Texas, Brent Koci and wife Alysa of Siloam Springs, Steven Koci of Tulsa, Okla., and Charles Snider and partner Dan Muzinich of Studio City, Calif.; a brother; three sisters, including Sandra Goswick of Siloam Springs and Lynn Sangwin of Bentonville; a half-brother; a half-sister; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Services were Nov. 13 at Wasson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Sharon Sumner

Sharon Dinese Sumner, 67, of Siloam Springs, died Nov. 16, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

She was born July 1, 1942, in Bethany, Mo., the daughter of Clark Kemp and Imogene Hutchison Kemp. She lived in South Dakota, Kansas, Alaska, and Oklahoma before moving to Siloam Springs 10 years ago. She was a high school and college secretary. Sharon was a member of the Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary. She married James Sumner in Oklahoma City on Nov. 24, 1960.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, and her parents.

Survivors include one son, Ray Sumner and wife Jolene of Abilene, Kan.; one daughter, Chris Schaefer and husband Alan of Bowdle, S.D.; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Tasha Linam and husband Charles of Decatur; one brother, Clark Dennis Kemp of Oklahoma City; one sister-inlaw, Carol Scheck of Madison, Kan.; and one uncle, Rex Hutchison of Oklahoma City. Services are pending. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Alexandria “Alex” Turner

Alexandria “Alex” Rachel Turner, 19, of Siloam Springs, died Nov. 15, 2009, at her home.

Born Jan.19, 1990 in Texarkana, Texas, she was the daughter of Cathy Holston Turner and Martin L. Turner. She lived in Siloam Springs most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers James Allen Holston, Sr., and Donald Lee Turner; and her great grandfather, Richard Bryan; one aunt, Sandra Turner Gonzalez.

Survivors include her mother, Cathy Holston of Siloam Springs; her father, Martin L. Turner of Cypress, Texas; one sister, Chandler Brownell of the home; her grandmothers, Yvonne Holston “Booley” of Siloam Springs, and Arlene Turner of Clovis, California; her great grandmother, Virginia Bryan of Siloam Springs; one uncle, Jamie Holston of Siloam Springs; and one aunt, Tamara Sweet and husband Roy, of Southern California.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Tim Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alex Turner Scholarship Fund, Siloam Springs, High School, 1500 W. Jefferson, Siloam Springs, AR 72761. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
