— On Saturday, the 17th of September several of us from Mt. Pleasant joined the Nazarene Church in Hiwasse in an evening of great Southern gospel music. This was presented by The Monies, a family group.

They are great. I think we all received a blessing from this event. I know I did.

On Saturday, the 26th of September the Arkansas Edgmon Reunion was held in Mossville, AR. Those attending from our area were Linda Sanders, Darlene, Louise and Ethan McVay, Bill and Susan Edgmon, Wilma Fladager, Phyllis Burnett, Jordan and Kaleb Burnett and Brian and Diane Carrier. We all had a great time eating and visiting. After the visiting we drove over to Boxley to wait for the elk.

While waiting we saw four of the trumpet swans that are being introduced to the area.We also saw several wild turkey. Finally we saw the elk.

There were approximately eight cows and maybe six calves in the first herd. Thebull stayed down by the brush line but we could still see him. We then started to leave the area and come on home when I spotted a large herd. We stopped again and let the kids watch. Jordan took his grandma’s camera and ran about a quarter of a mile back from where we stopped. He was able to get a great picture of the bull elk from this herd. They are such magnificent creatures. We really enjoyed the sight. I can’t wait to take the kids back for another “elk watch”.

Gladys Gatton had a birthday last Tuesday. Several from Mt. Pleasant took her to Monte Ne Chicken Inn for a birthday dinner. I was told no one left the dinner table hungry. Gladys, I hope you had a most wonderful birthday and have many more. I love you and Happy Birthday again.

Wilma Fladager spent the day Friday with a sister, Beverly Nelson, in Springdale.

Have a blessed week and God Bless.
