Parent Involvement A Success At Gravette Middle School

“Gravette Middle School’s Parent-Teacher Conferences and Parent-Involvement Night was a success,” said Mike Walker, parent involvement coordinator.

A total of 184 parents signed in to meet with teachers to discuss their children’s needs and to hear suggestions on howtheir children could improve, said Walker, who is also GMS librarian.

Though the event was scheduled from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. many teachers and parents stayed until p.m. In addition, Edline accounts were opened so parents could independently check their children’s grades.

Walker said usually when these accounts were opened, parents added their e-mail addresses to the school’s lesson listserver so they could receive their children’s lessons for the week. Walker, who sets up the accounts, can be reached at [email protected] and at 787-4172.

Headed To The Fair

A busload of kids from Gravette, pictured here, were treated to a free trip to the Washington County Fair recently thanks to John Rambadt from R & R who provided a bus for transportation and Murphy Enterprises from Tulsa, who provided entrance fees, arm bands and food.

Twenty-three kids attended the event. “It was a fun time; we rode every ride more than once, had a great time and goodfood,” said Chris and Tina Crose. “We also thank John Lykins and Gary Pinkerton for coordinating the event and Frank Leeman, our bus driver, who did a great job.”
