Local FFA Students Host Leadership Conference

— Gravette High School Future Farmers of America Chapter recently hosted a Leadership Workshop with State FFA President Mike Norton and FFA Officer Candidate Steven Hutter as guest presenters at the all-day event.

Approximately 110 GHS agriculture students gathered in the Performing Arts Center to hear motivational talks, said William Tapp, FFA Advisor.

Topics included Career Development and Leadership Opportunities available through the local, state and national FFA.

Following the morning presentations, lunch was provided by Farm Credit Services and afternoon workshops were held inindividual agri classrooms covering team building and problem solving skills.

Inanotherspecialprogram, U of A grad student and former State FFA president Jason Davis presented a bio-diesel demonstrationaboutalternative fuels,Tapp said.

GHS agriculture students studied the data collected on the performance of regular diesel fuel compared to that of bio-diesel fuel.

The demonstration and hands-on activity was a follow-up to a presentation by Davis at an earlier visit .

Tapp said, “I thank these threeyoungmenwhoareproducts of FFA leadership training themselvesforpresentingthese workshopstoGravetteFFAand agristudents.”
