Maysville E. H. Club Meeting Report

Thursday, October 29, 2009

— The October 22 meeting of the Maysville E. H. Club was called to order by the president, Orpha Wardlaw. The delicious dinner was hosted by Bert Ballmann. Eleven members and one guest, Alecia Mountcastle, were present. Our opening song, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, was led by Melinda Crawley. We gave the Pledge of Allegiance to the U. S. flag and Jewel Lukens read a poem entitled “Forgive Me When I Whine”.

Diane Graham, who is employed at the hospital in Gravette, gave a talk on the services available there now and also some of the things being worked on for the near future. At the present time 25 patients can be taken care of.

A helpful hint when baking cupcakes is to let them cool in the baking pan to prevent them from stickingand tearing up.

Bert explained how she made the centerpiece for the dinner table. They were “miniature pumpkins” made from oranges.

Katherine Tucker called the roll, read the previous minutes and gave the financial report. Sylvia Tucker gave a report on the uses of the community building. Diane reported that the 4-H members will have a clean-up day before the community Thanksgiving supper on Nov. 21. The menu for that supper was planned and members volunteered to prepare the various foods. Everyone is invited to come and bring a side dish.

We thank everyone who had a part in our fundraiser last Saturday night. We had an unexpected expense last week with a small propane leak. It was located and repaired before we lost all the propane in the tank.

The quarter package furnished by Katherine was drawn by Bert.

Plans were discussed for a Senior Citizen Day, to meet at the center and visit, play games and just enjoy being together. Be watching and listening for details.

Our November meeting is a week early, Nov. 19, because the regular time comes on Thanksgiving Day. It will be an afternoon meeting only so no hostess is needed.
