— The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Benton County, according to Commissioner Dick Trammel of Rogers and Benton County Judge Dave Bisbee.

The project is to construct a bridge on County Road 9 to replace a low water structure, east of the Logan Cave National Wildlife Refuge. Manhattan Road & Bridge Company of Tulsa, OK, was awarded the contract at $1,648,939.14. “This new bridge will be located over Osage Creek,” stated Judge Bisbee.

The project is being funded with money provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) matched with State Aid Road Program funds and local funds.

Trammel Indicated work could begin on the project in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion of the project is expected sometime in the summer of 2011.
