GRAVETTE — The possibility of Gentry school adding a sports shooting program was given the nod of approval by the school’s board of education. The ArkansasYouth Shooting Sports Program (AYSSP) is sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Huntsville has had such a program for several years and Berryville is adding it with some 300 studentssigned up, the Gentry board was told.

Participants would use their own guns which would be properly stored and a trap shooting facility in Cherokee City could be a possible shooting site.

ASSYP’s aim is to instill a love of the outdoors in the students and teach rewards of safe shooting practices, the AGFC maintains.
