The Class of 1959 celebrated their 50th year reunion August 7 by inviting the classes of '58, '59, '60 and '61 to an evening of food, memorabilia, memories and visiting.We met in the cafeteria at Gravette High School around tables decorated in orange and black using the theme "Still Rockin' and Rollin'".

We were honored to have Mr. Charles Kelly and Mr. Glenn Duffy present. Mr. Kelly present. Mr. Duffy was superintendent of schools during our years in school. He still claims us all as "his kids". The comments earned him a standing ovation.

High points of 1959 include: Castros revolution in Cuba; States of Alaska and Hawaii joinedtheUnion;thePresident wasEisenhower,VicePresident Richard Nixon; Buddy Holly killed in a plane crash; the first Barbie doll produced; but the high points we remembered weretheBuzzBox,Homecoming, Bonfires, Snow Parties, Juke Boxes, Songs, Movies and

PeoplenamedEskar,Mac,Roy, Lucille,Leona,Vonn,Dr.BillyV. Hall, Ella and Glenn, all instrumentalinourlives.

On Saturday, August 8, the Class of 1959 rode on a float in the Gravette Day parade with the theme "After 50

Years Still Rockin'". Members of the class were in rocking chairs. Following the float was a 1959 Ford with a banner "and Rollin'". The car was driven by class member Jim Jarvis, whose grandson owned the car.

The Class of 1959 will present to a member of the 2009-2010 graduating class of GHS a scholarship in the amount of $1,019.59. We also CHALLENGE the classes following us to celebrate your 50th by giving a $1,000 scholarship to GHS. What a great tradition to begin!
