Thursday, September 3, 2009

— The regular monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club was held Wednesday, August 26, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center with six members and two guests, Charlie Griffin and Harlan Montag, present. Harlan was celebrating his birthday.

President Jeanne Hubbard opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and led the singing of "September Song" and "School Days". Her devotion was about opportunities to make new friends.

Roll call was answered by Mary, joke about scientists who thought they didn't need God; Susan, a poem, "Ain't"; Betty, joke about a new pastor; Jeanne, joke about 3-legged chickens; Eda, a poem, "To One Without Faith"; and Chia, exercise on laser lines of love.

Secretary Betty Howard read the minutes of the July meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Mary Griffin gave the financial report. A report given on a shut-in resulted in a vote to donate $75.

Eda Montag gave the program on the life of Louis L'Amour and read three of his poems, "Tranquility", "The Pioneer" and"The Gladiator".

Members sang the doxology before eating their potluck meal.

The next meeting of the club will be held Wednesday, September 23.
