School Election Early Voting Is Now Underway

Thursday, September 3, 2009

— The Gravette School District annual school board election will be held Tuesday, September 15, in which voters will choose a member of the board for a five-year term.

Incumbent Danny Alsup is seeking re-election after his first term. He is being challenged by Carol Kaufman, a resident of Bella Vista.

There is no millage issue on the ballot in this election because voters approved the current 37.2 millage rate in a special election held April 14 of this year.

There will only be two polling places for voters in the 149 square mile district: The Gravette Civic Center for voters in precincts 1-5 and the Highlands Church in Bella Vista for voters in precincts 22-26 and 70.

No polling sites will be available in Maysville, Sulphur Springs or Hiwasse.

Voters may cast ballots at the office of the County Clerk in Bentonville starting September 8 and continuing through September 14.

Absentee ballots are also available. Contact the Clerk's office, 271-1013, for information and for application forms. Allow time for mail delivery.
