Eightieth birthday reception planned

— The family of former Gentry resident Joy Dailey Gordon is having a reception in honor of her 80th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 20.

Joy is a 1947 graduate of Gentry High School.

The reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Joy's home, located at 3301 N. Grant, Enid, Okla., 73703.

"Hopefully, several of her old friends from Gentry still take the Journal," said Joy's daughter, Kay Stair. If they cannot come, (Joy) would sure love to hear from them," she said.

Joy moved to Gentry with her family when she was one year old. Her parents were Everett and Viola Dailey. They moved away for a short time during the war, but moved back and Joy graduated from the high school there. She married Ned Gordon, a classmate who graduated from high school with her.

They moved to Oklahoma City for Ned's job shortly after their marriage on Oct. 9, 1949.
