Storm Spotter Course Is Offered At High School

— Gravette High School will host a Storm Spotter Course Monday evening, September 28.

A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (AOAA) representative from Little Rock will conduct the training class from 6 to 9 p.m.

to school personnel, emergency responders and interested community members.

There is no charge.

"Mini tornado season is just around the corner and this course will help persons identify tornadoes and tornado look-alikes," the NOAA said. John Robinson,WarningCoordination Meteorologist from the National Weather Service, will cover this point among other weather-related topics including severe thunderstorms, flash floods, hail and lightning.

The course will also provide information on how tornadoes develop, how their strength is measured, tornado safety, how to report severe weather, how Doppler radar works and severe weather statistics for Arkansas.
