Decatur junior high team wins

— The Junior Bulldogs won their first home game of the season against Western Yell County last Tuesday night by a score of 38-0.

The Bulldogs competed in wet and miserable weather. The rain finally stopped around half time, according to coach Stanley Ellis, but the field was a "big sloppy mess."

Ninth grader Evan Owens scored a touchdown on the first play of the game and scored again on an interception.

Seventh grader Alan Castenda scored the second touchdown of the game on a reverse play followed by two touchdowns by seventh grader Victor Urquidi. Ninth grader Kyler Murray scored a touchdown on a short play up the middle.

By half time, the Bulldogs were leading 24-0.

"The defense played a really great game," Ellis said.

"We've got a good junior high team this year," Athletic director Bobby King commented at Monday's Townhall meeting.

The junior Bulldogs lost 26-14 to Gentry on Sept. 3 and 18-6 to Elkins on Sept. 8. The seventh grade team won a game against Gentry on Sept. 3.

The junior Bulldogs will be playing Magazine on Sept. 24, and their next home game will be against J.C. Westside on Oct. 1.
