Decatur Seeks Grant For Parking Lot For New Plant

— Simmons Foods and the City of Decatur are seeking a $232,000 grant from the Arkansas Economic Development Program for construction of a parking lot at the new Simmons pet food plant in Decatur.

If approved, Simmons will have until December to hire 81 new employees for the facility or the company will be required to pay $2,3,81 for each position not filled, Jay Stallard, grants administrator told the council.

The new plant is located northeast of the Simmons feed mill north of downtown Decatur.

New Display At Shiloh Museum In Springdale

An interesting exhibit is on display at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. Entitled "Squeaky Clean" it focuses on the evolution of hygiene in the Ozarks from 1850 to 1950.
