Riding club holds its season opener

NWA Riding Club holds family rodeo events

— The NWA Riding Club held its 2010 season opener of play-day rodeo on Saturday, with adults and children participating in the events held in the enclosed arena at the Luca-Don Equestrian Center west of Gentry.

The rodeo included events - poles, barrels, flags, speed and mutton busting - for five age classes, making it an enjoyable evening for whole families.

The rodeos will continue at 6 p.m. every other Saturday until Nov. 1. Ribbons are awarded nightly, with an awards banquet planned forthe end of the season. A point system is be in effect.

Memberships are $30 per year for a family. There is no charge for nightly events. The rodeos are held at 23236 Arkansas Highway 12, west of Gentry.

The NWA Riding Club is a non-profit, non-alcoholic and drug-free environment for families. For more information, call 752-3466 or 899-3259.

The club is holding a fundraising garage sale at 11012 WPA Road on Friday and Saturday of this week, beginning at 7 a.m. Multi-family donations are being accepted. For drop-off information, call 736-5066.
