Training Required For Child Care Providers In State

— Childcare providers need 10 hours of training each year to remain in compliance with the Arkansas Early Childhood Professional Development System. University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture family and consumer sciences specialists have made it more convenient for providers to receive five of those 10 hours through the Best Care Connected online program.

“Best Care Connected provides a convenient way for providers to experience quality early childhood professional development through the ease of online teaching,” said Joy Buffalo, child care program technician for the division.

“The online training is free and open to everyone,” she said. “It also provides verified training through Traveling Arkansas Professional Pathways.”

Buffalo added that continuing education units are available for a $10 fee.

The topics covered in Best Care Connected are common themes for early childhood providers: kindness, discipline, nap time, the connection between physical activity and learning and oppositional defiant disorder.

Best Care Connected is now offered through June 15. For registration information contact Buffalo at 501-671-2325.
