GRAVETTE — Saturday, May 8, has been designated the official Gravette Garden Planting Day and Barbecue.

Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Marisol Jackson, who is directing the project. She provided the following information with an encouragement for everyone in the community and area to respond.

Here are her words: “We are team planting thisyear so bring your team: youth groups, church families, school faculty, school clubs, sports teams, families, 4-H Clubs, businesses, everyone.

“Pick a vegetable, plant a row, lay some compost and bring a soaker hose.

“All vegetables, seeds, compost and food will be provided.

“All ages are welcome for this family fun event. Givea day back to your community.

“Wear your club shirts and colors proudly.

“Teams can register by calling 479-899-7290.”

The garden will benefit the Feed My Sheep food pantry which serves the area.

In case of rain, the event will be held the following Saturday, May 15, same time and place.
