Several Actions During Short Council Session

— Gravette City Council meeting Thursday night was brief, slightly more than one hour, but several items of business were addressed. In addition, the Council heard information concerning the wastewater treatment facility’s upgrade replacement. See related story.

Council action included the following:

◊Tabled a resolution concerning a park grant application until the May committee of the whole meeting.

◊Appointed Kelly Wallace and David Herbert to the Planning Commission.

◊Approved opening an account to administer a$25,000 grant received for expansion of the Gravette Museum facilities.

◊Per discussion at the April committee meeting, the city will continue its current contract with the firm that supplies uniforms.

◊Approved a resolution to allow for two hours of showup pay for employees called in on weekends or after regular business hours.

◊Approved repair of the city’sKubotalawnmowerand the purchase of a new mower. Approximate cost, $17,000.

◊Approved on three readings an ordinance amending the city’s ordinance governing tap-on fees.

◊Approved purchase of100 water meter registers to allow replacement of older meters that need repair.

◊Heard a Civic Center appraisal and insurance coverage report. Upgrading insurance coverage will be discussed at the May committee meeting.

◊Authorized Mayor Bill Howard and City Recorder Mike von Ree to rent the former city hall building, to a tenant.

To answer a question posed by Alderman Warren “is contract laborers driving city vehicles covered by insurance”. Attorney Tom Smith advised the Municipal League should be contacted for an answer.
