Small business meeting

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce will host a special guest and program for small business owners at its April 29 meeting. Linda Nelson with the Small Business Administration will speak about some interest-free money offered to small businesses under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamber office on Main Street in Gentry.

Band sale and car wash

The Gentry Marching Band and band boosters have rescheduled their rained-out yard sale and car wash at Marvin’s Foods to Saturday, May 1- the yard sale will start at about 7 a.m. and the car wash at 9 a.m. - to raise money to help send students to summer band camp. The sale will include many new items donated by the Wal-Mart warehouse, as well as many personal donations. Haiti benefit dinner

A dinner to benefit the people of Haiti will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 1, at the Main Street Pavilion (next door to the Chicken Coop Flea Market) in Gentry. The special dinner is being sponsored by the Gentry Mennonite Youth, with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to Christian Disaster Relief - Shelter Division. A freewill donation will be taken.

Bean bag challenge

The Gentry Senior Center is issuing a challenge to any groups or organizations that would like to enter the SAC bean bag baseball tournament from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the Carl Gym. Spectators too may come out and root for their favorite team. The cost will be $3 per adult and $2 per student. Proceeds raised will be used for the senior meal program. Miss Colcord Pageant

The Miss Colcord Pageant is set for May 29. The pageant is open to contestants from all surrounding areas. Pageant categories include kindergarten through grade 12. For more information, call 918-314-9613 or send an e-mail to colcordchamber @ yahoo.com.

Old Settlers’ Day

Old Settlers’ Day in Colcord is set for June 5. The day includes free food in the city park at noon, live music and children’s games. A parade is planned for 11 a.m. A rodeo is planned for June 4 and 5.

Gentry City Council

The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6:30 p.m., the first Monday of each month.

Pickin’ in the Park

Pickin’ in the Park is held at 6:30 p.m., the last Saturday of each month, at the Gentry Senior Activity Center. Musicians and music lovers are invited to come and join in or just sit back and enjoy the music.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry on Falling Springs Road.

Regular office hours at the Gentry news office of Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC are limited to make it possible for staff to be out covering news and events. Regular hours will be from 9-11 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Staff members will be in and out of the office at other times, but calling ahead to 736-2822 or 233-0081 is recommended.
