— Tax receipts were up in Gentry for the month of March, according to figures published in City & Town, the official publication of the Arkansas Municipal League.

Even though incoming tax revenue for municipalities across the state was down in the first quarter of 1010, Gentry’s tax receipts were considerably higher this March than they were a year ago. In city sales taxes, Gentry received $27,052 in March 2010 and only received $5,027 in March of 2009, though the low number last year was the result of an adjustment. In county sales and use taxes, Gentry received $38,024 in March compared to $37,441 last year.

Decatur received only $11,996 in city sales tax this March, compared to $16,487 for the same period last year. In county sales and use tax, the numbers were slightly better, with $20,510 collected last month and $20,196 a year ago.

Highfill collected $62,470 in city sales tax last month and $50,687 in March of 2009. Special Aviation taxrevenue was down slightly in March, $16,064 this year compared to $16,332 last year. In county taxes, Highfill was up in March, collecting $10,208 compared to $10,052 last year.

Springtown was down to $446 from $639 last year in city sales taxes. County taxes, however, were up slightly in March, $1,779 from 1,752.
