'The Eagle has landed'

The Westside Eagle Observer, a new Northwest Arkansas Newspapers publication, debuts today.

The Eagle Observer is a combined edition of the Decatur Herald, the Gentry Courier-Journal and the Gravette News Herald. The publication will be published each Wednesday and will be mailed to all current subscribers of the previous three publications. The new publication’s office is located in Gravette at 123 Main Street, S.E.

“Though the Westside Eagle Observer is a new publication, taking the place of three hometown newspapers, it will continue to serve the communities of Decatur, Gentry and Gravette much as they were served before,” said Randy Moll, managing editor of the new publication. “The local, hometown newspapers of each community are not gone; they’re just combined into a single paper to make it possible to provide the same local coverage we provided before,” Moll said.

While it may take a few weeks for staff to adjust to the new publication and to some changes in their work of covering and editing the news, the Eagle Observer staff promises to do its best to serve the people of western Benton County and to be a truly hometown newspaper.

“As before, we invite our readers to submit news items and photos and to let us know of happenings and events so that we can cover them and keep all our readers informed,” Moll said.

News items, photos, announcements and news tips may be sent to us by e-mail at [email protected] or by calling our news office at 787-5300. Items may also be sent by fax to 787-5332. New subscriptions will also be gladly accepted at our Gravette office.
