— The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club was held Wednesday, July 28, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center with six members and one guest present.

President Jeanne Hubbard opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and Eda Montag led the group in singing “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” Jeanne’s devotion outlined how to tell the value of things.

Roll call was answered by six members: Chia, Mary — animal riddles, Susan — joke about 90-year-old man marrying 19-year-old girl, Betty — baking soda hints, Jeanne — difference between the sexes and Eda — two stories.

Possible projects were discussed. Susan will inquire about whether the club might be able to help with the city’s animal rescue efforts.

Betty Howard gave the program, reading two stories from “Chicken Soup for the Cat and Dog Lover’s Soul.” One was about a dog who brightened an elderly nursing home resident’s life, the other about a cat who helped prolong the life of a woman with cancer.

Members enjoyed a potluck lunch following the program.
