— Black Boy has a home!

The pet cat that was “owned” by several ladies at the Senior Center Housing Complex was threatened with expulsion from the area since the male cat lived outside the residences and a notice posted by housing officials said outdoor pets, including cats, had to be on leashes.

A story in the Gravette News Herald last week prompted Mary Kay Kelley, director of the Billy V. Hall Senior Center to say, “Black Boy is now officially owned by the Center and he can come and go as he pleases.”

The ladies, Lola Stone, Fran Bridges and Estelle Marney, who had been caring for the cat since he was abandoned there ten years ago, were overjoyed.

“He still has his cushion on the front porch (at the apartments) and enjoys breakfast every morning and having his ears rubbed,” one of the ladies said.
