Juanita Cobb Cubine

Juanita Cobb Cubine, 80, of Gravette, died Aug. 4, 2010, in Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 21, 1929, to Samuel A. and Nancy H. (Ballard) Cobb in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Wichita Falls. She married Floyd Cubine on March 7, 1947, in Henrietta, Texas. She owned and operated her own day care in Wichita Falls for many years. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Gravette. She loved to read, work crosswords and listen to gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; a brother, Wayne Cobb; a sister, Katherine Cobb; and a great-grandson, Justin Hudson. She is survived by her children, Ronnie Cubine of Wichita Falls, Texas, Nancy Hembey of Austin, Texas, Rhonda Gasche of Chambersburg, Penn., Carla Hubanks of Gravette, and Susie Powell and husband John of Plainview, Texas; two sisters Ramona Reynolds of Seymour, Texas, and Jeanie Andrews of Wolfe City, Texas; a brother Glenn Cobb of Wichita Falls, 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Aug. 15, at Heritage Baptist Church in Gravette. Burial was at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral home in Wichita Falls.

Leroy Elsea

Leroy Elsea, 83, of Gravette, died Aug. 8, 2010, at his home. He was born March 26,1927, near Bentonville, the son of Hugh and Myrtle Styles Elsea. He was a member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church and attended Beacon Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Elsea, and two sons, Jimmy and Randy Elsea. Survivors include two sons, Larry Elsea and wife Janet of Burleson, Texas, and Rick Elsea and wife Sharon of Gravette; a sister, Mildred Lee of Fayetteville; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Beacon Baptist Church in Gravette, with Dan Fagala officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, under direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home.

Darrell Holcomb

Darrell Holcomb died July 31, 2010 in Fayetteville.

He was born Aug. 1, 1939, in Clay County, W.Va., to Ernest Joe and Alma Holcomb. He attended Clay County High School in Clay, W.Va. He joined the U.S. Air Force in January 1958 and served for 20 years, serving in New York, Alaska, Kansas, Colorado, Korea and retiring in California. He retired from U.S. civil service in 1995. He was a 25-year Mason. Darrell and Marilyn moved to Arkansas in March of 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brenda Crenshaw.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Holcomb; two sons, Robert Holcomb of Gravette, and William Holcomb of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Pat) Holcomb of Brooksville, Fla., Kendell (Charlotte) Holcomb of Johnson City, Texas; three sisters, Rosemary McClung (Jack) and Shirley Wolfe, both of Madison, Ohio, and Lois Golembiowski of Surprise, Ariz.

Memorial services are planned for 2 p.m. Aug. 16, 2010, at the Community Christian Fellowship Church, Siloam Springs, with Jay Foley officiating.

Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in Bella Vista.

Kresha Thomas

Kresha “Claudine” Thomas, 69, of Rogers, died Aug. 2, 2010, in Rogers.

She was born July 9, 1941, in Lowell, to Paul L. Freeman and Eufema Johnson. She was born and raised in Lowell and graduated from Bentonville High School in 1960. She worked as a banker for Citizens Bank in Bentonville and Arvest Bank in Lowell. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave Springs, where she was active in the choir and the “Home Alone Group.” She enjoyed going to ball games and watching her sons and grandsons play sports.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold Paul Freeman and John Freeman; and one granddaughter, Claudine Megan Thomas.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerry O. Thomas; three sons, Kevin Thomas of Cave Springs, Kirby Thomas and wife, Debbie, of Cassville, Mo., Kerry Thomas and wife, Melissa, of Bella Vista; seven grandsons; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Aug. 6 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave Springs, with Gary Brewer and Ralph Walker officiating.

Burial was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, west of Hiwasse.

Arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.
