Lauren Kara Crowned Miss Gravette 2010

Thirteen young ladies competed for the title Miss Gravette 2010 in the annual pageant held Friday evening at the Gravette High School Performing Arts Center.

A crowd attended the event in the air-conditioned theater and enjoyed an accompanying program centered around the theme “Footloose” based on a 1960s era film.

Miss Lauren Kara, daughter of Carla and Jerry Kara of Gravette, was crowned Miss Gravette 2010. First runner-up was Miss Jacquelynn Janes; second runner-up was Miss Shelby Newell.

Special awards were presented to the following: Audience Favorite, Kayla Holliday; Miss Congeniality, Shelby Newell and Lauren Kara; Stage Question, Kaitlynn Britton; Gravette Wear, Lauren Kara; Interview, Jacquelynn Janes; and Evening Gown, Lauren Kara.

Makayla Morrison, Miss Gravette 2010, together with Tarole Harris, were emcees for the program, which was under the direction of Deree Mitchell.

Special entertainment was presented by A. J. Claborn, Hailey House, Deree Mitchell, Tarole Harris and David O’Brien. A “Footloose” finale was presented by all of the above, including the contestants, and Aubree Garrett.

Miss Gravette was crowned in a ceremony at noon Saturday in Kindley Memorial Park as part of the Gravette Day festivities. Various other pageants were directed during the morning and afternoon by Deree Mitchell and winners of those pageants are pictured in the print edition.
