Gary Earl Russell

Gary Earl Russell, 56, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of northwest Arkansas, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, in Colorado Springs. He was born Nov. 10, 1953, in Hiawatha, Kan., to La-Verne C. Russell and Mary Ellen Zeigler Russell. He was a graduate of Rogers High School in 1971 and was a chef at the Bella Vista Country Club and Hobo Joe’s Restaurant in Springdale for many years before moving to Colorado. He loved cartoons and collected classic Corvettes. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by two sons, Kris Russell and wife Jennifer of Rogers, Kevin Russell and wife Nikki of Fayetteville; two brothers, Harlan Russell of St. Joseph, Mo., Neil Russell of Springdale; two sisters, Mary Tipling of Gravette, and Janice Branscumb of Leslie. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18, at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with Rex Dickey and Susan Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.

Jane Ray Turner

Jane Ray Turner, 90, of Rogers, died Aug. 9, 2010, in Rogers. She was born April 22, 1920, in Gentry, to Jim B. Ray and Veva Eddy Ray. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marshall Turner. Cremation arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.

Lula Pearl Woods

Lula Pearl Woods, 71, of Colcord, Okla., died Aug. 11, 2010, at Quail Ridge Living Center in Siloam Springs. She was born May 1, 1939, in Jay, Okla., to William and Fannie McGee Rutherford. She married Donald Woods on Dec. 20, 1957, in Miami, Okla. She loved to sew, make quilts and can vegetables. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Judith Woods. She is survived by her husband, of the home; five children, Rose Williamson, Carol Baker and Debra Woods, all of Siloam Springs, Steven Woods of Arkansas and Michael Woods of Ada, Okla.; siblings Charles Rutherford, Lillie Thompson, Louise Frye, Bill Rutherford and Russell Rutherford; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 18, at Chamberlain Community Center in Colcord, with Darrell Self and Conley Chesney officiating. Interment will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay is in charge of arrangements.

Sam Zabrdac

Sam Zabrdac, 79, of Highfill, died Aug. 4, 2010, at his home. He was born March 24, 1931, in Gary, Ind., to Sam Sr. and Louise Blaharski Zabrdac. He worked for U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind., and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Batusic of Highfill. A memorial service was held Aug. 15 at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel in Siloam Springs. Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
