Danny E. Bain

Danny E. Bain, 66, of Gravette, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at his home.

Danny was born Jan. 13, 1944 in Springfield, Mo. to the late Millard and Lena (Devers) Bain.

Danny was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Rayma (Daniels) Bain, of the home; two sons, Andrew Vore of Ft. Smith and Adam Vore of Decatur; three daughters, Danielle Pace, Angie King of Gravette, and Shonna Vore of Greenville, Tenn.; two brothers, Bill Bain of Ozark, Mo. and Loy Bain of Springfield, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren.

Graveside services for Danny will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Taney County, Mo. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 6-8 p.m., at Callison Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.

Jack W. Clay

Jack W. Clay, 80, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, in Springdale.

He was born on June 12, 1930, in Warner, Okla., a son of William Clay and Mattie Shay Clay. He was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and was honored as a Cherokee veteran in 2010 for his service 60 years ago in the Korean War. He was in a Korean War unit called Bout One, assigned to the Korean Air Force to teach them how to fly and service F-51 Fighter planes. His unit received the Korean Presidential Unit Citation for this specific role. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. He worked for Tyson’s, retiring after 26 years.

Survivors include one son, Jimmie Clay of Springdale; three daughters, Christy Bardrick of Rogers, Regina Robertson of Colcord, Okla., and Krista Payton of Colcord; two brothers, Jimmy Eugene Clay of California and Mignon Clay of Arlington, Texas; one grandson, Jordon Robertson; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ohlig Clay; two brothers; and two sisters.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.

Kathryn Ann Dickinson

Kathryn Ann Dickinson, 61, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Gravette, died Aug. 15, 2010.

Survivors include her husband, William Dickinson; three daughters, Laura Masters, Kristina James and Rachel Rodgers; a brother; six sisters; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug.19 at Gravette Church of God Holiness. Burial was at Bethel Cemetery, near Gravette.

Local arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.

Carolyn Elaine Lopez

Carolyn Elaine Lopez, 68, of Sulphur Springs died Aug. 17, 2010, at the Circle of Life Hospice Care Center in Bentonville.

She was born Oct. 27, 1941, in Greenville, S.C., to Elisha Cleveland and Lemerle Manley Evans. For several years she owned and operated P.D.Q Convenience Store in Sulphur Springs.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Lopez; a daughter, Michelle Anderson and husband Jim, of Noel, Mo.; a brother; a sister; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 21 at the United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs. Burial followed at the Butler Creek Cemetery near Sulphur Springs. Arrangements were by Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo.

Vance "Pete" Perry Jr.

Vance "Pete" Perry Jr., 63, of Bentonville, died Aug. 20, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born in Fayetteville on Aug. 30, 1946, to Vance Perry Sr., and Iris Douglas. He graduated from Sherman High School in Sherman, Texas, and attended North Texas State University where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He most recently worked for Tyson Foods in logistics for 19 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Iris Perry of Gravette; daughter, Shelly Denise Perry of Rogers; siblings, Douglas Perry of Atlanta, Ga., Cathy Roberts of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Alexa Renee Perry of Rogers; and six nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Aug. 24 at Charity Baptist Church in Rogers. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home.

Patrick Edward Pinnell

Patrick Edward Pinnell, 73, of Fayetteville, died Aug. 18, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

He was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was the son of Theodore Raymond Pinnell and Patrick Harlan Hughes Pinnell Rincon. He was a general contractor, owned and operated Pinnell, Inc., for over 35 years. He served in the Navy and Marines and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, serving on the Westark Area District Committee during the mid-1980s and early 1990s. He was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church and sang in the choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Fredrick John Rincon.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Twania Pinnell of the home; two sons, Patrick Edward Pinnell II of Fayetteville and Randall Charles Pinnell and his wife Melody, of Carson City, Nev.; one daughter, Christol Anne Pinnell of Fort Smith; one stepson, John Dell James and his wife Shelly, of Fayetteville; one grandson; three step-granddaughters; three sisters, Leone Laubach and her husband Forrest of Huntington, Harriet Griffith of Fort Smith and Carolyn James and her husband Don, of Springdale; one brother, Jack Rincon and his wife Diana, of Greer, S.C.

Funeral services were Aug. 21, 2010, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Van Buren. Arrnagements were by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Bernice Swicegood

Bernice Swicegood, 85, lifelong resident of Colcord, Okla., died Aug. 22, 2010, at The Maples in Springdale.

She was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Cleveland, Okla., the daughter of Bruce Caywood and Margaret Martin Caywood. She served as president of the Colcord PTA and was an active member of the Colcord Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kansas, Okla. She taught Sunday School classes and was the church pianist. She was a homemaker and enjoyed singing, playing the piano and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd L. Swicegood; and two brothers, Lloyd Caywood and Dale Caywood.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Luper of Rogers, Elaine Walker of Springdale, and Kay Parmain of Colcord, Okla.; one son, Ronald Boyd Swicegood of Colcord; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and one brother, Elzie Caywood, of Colcord.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Ralph Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Row Cemetery, Colcord.

Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

John M. “Jack” O’Neal

John M. “Jack” O’Neal age 79 of Gravette, passed away at his home on August 23, 2010, with family at his side. Jack was born August 24, 1930 at Emporia, Kansas to parents Bill O’Neal and Merytl Cole O’Neal. As a young man, Jack enlisted in the United States Army, where he trained as a mechanic and served in the Korean War. After leaving the military, Jack was for many years self employed, working as an electric motor mechanic and welder. He loved baseball including his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Jack had a large family who loved him dearly and will be greatly missed.

Jack is survived by his son, Steve and his wife Amber of Gravette; two grandsons, Brandon Ranger of California and A.J. O’Neal of Gravette; one great granddaughter, Kailyn Ranger and a great grandson on the way.

Private family services will be held at a later time.

Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.
