GRAVETTE - Donations for the “Love Lights A Tree” to fight cancer are still being accepted according to Ruth Foster, who has chaired the project since its inception 15 years ago.

The project raises funds by lighting a tree in Centennial Park with sparkling red, white and blue lights. Area residents donate funds for lights; a $5 donation is suggested. All funds go toward cancer research and service programs by the Northwest Arkansas unit of the American Cancer Society.

“White lights represent those in memory of; red lights honor the survivors; and blue lights are for our military or anyone you would like to remember during this holiday season,” said Mary Beth Mitchell who, along with ColeenDickinson assists with the project.

When sending your donation and information, please include the name of the person to be honored on the tree, what color light should be featured, your relationship or friendship to the person, and your name.

A lighting of the tree will be held in the park located in downtown Gravette at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 10,when all names will be read during the ceremony. The tree will remain lighted throughout the holiday season.

Please mail contributions to RuthFoster, Box 1075, Gravette, or contact the other two ladies who assist. “Come and enjoy this special event and help us kick off the holiday season,” Mitchell said.
