House Fire

Fire last Wednesday morning heavily damaged the Don Alexander home located about three miles west of Gravette off Highway 72. Firefighters cut holes in the roof to access the blaze which apparently started in a laundry room and spread into the upper structure. Strong south wind hampered the firefighting efforts. Fire Chief David Smith said, "The best we could track down, the blaze probably started around a hot water heater or the dryer." Gravette firefighters were assisted by departments from Maysville, Sulphur Springs and Decatur.
