Douglas “Peanut” Odell Baugus

Douglas Odell Baugus, 54, of Gentry, died Dec. 10, 2010, at the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs.

He was born Jan. 24, 1956, in Marked Tree, to William Henry Baugus and Lucille George Baugus. He married Deborah Perkins on May 24, 1999, in Gentry. He was an egg processor for the Cargill Hatchery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Ethel Faye Edwards of Manila.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah of the home; one daughter, Amanda; one son, Douglas Baugus Jr. of Leachville; five sisters, Mary Sue Lee and husband William of Manila, Linda Hancock and husband Bill of Manila, Bertha Copeland and husband Bobby of Osceola, Joann Baugus of Manila, and Cindy Childress of Gentry; and numerous grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 14 at the Jesus Name Church of Cherokee City, with Steve Paden officiating. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery near Cherokee City.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Chris Alan Blaine

Chris Alan Blaine, 48, of Siloam Springs, died Dec. 5, 2010, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Tracy and Nina Harrington Blaine. He worked for the Benton County Road Department as a grader operator and was a certified airplane mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; a son, Cody Blaine of Siloam Springs; a daughter, Laramie Blaine of Siloam Springs; his mother, NinaBlaine of Siloam Springs; and a sister, Holly Shackleford and husband Butch of Fayetteville.

Funeral service was Dec. 9 at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Burial followed at Falling Springs Cemetery near Decatur.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Eleanor Irene Burden

Eleanor Irene Burden, 87, of Lawrence, Kan., died Dec. 9 at her home in Lawrence.

She was born April 7, 1923, in Crosby, Minn., to Paul and Clara Josephine Nelson Graton. She was a 1941 graduate of the Crosby Ironton High School in Crosby. Eleanor worked during WWII at Northrop as a "Rosie the Riveter." She was also a homemaker. She married Reasoner Stewart Burden at Yuma, Ariz., on July 7, 1944.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, John Michael Burden and William T. Burden; an infant daughter, Marylee Burden; and one brother, John Graton.

Survivors include two sons, George Burden of Upland, Calif., Edward Burden of Garden Grove, Calif.; two daughters, Sally Burger of Lawrence, and Anna May Wolstrom of Corona, Calif., and one sister, Blanch Wright.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Gentry Cemetery in Gentry. The family of Burden will hold a celebration of life memorial gathering at their home in Lawrence at 6 p.m. on Dec. 27.

Arrangements are by Lawrence Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Lawrence.

Clarence Davis

Clarence Davis, 79, of Gravette, died Dec. 7, 2010, atOzarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born June 6, 1931, in Littlefield, Tex., to Bossie Davis and Mary Busby Davis. He was raised and educated in Texas and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Rosalie Pitman Nov. 14, 1954. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 48 years.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rosalie Davis of Gravette; one son, Jerry Davis and wife Lisa of Franklin, Germany; one daughter, Debra Dixon and husband John of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Robert Mitchell and wife Ruth of Gravette; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 11, 2010, at First Christian Church in Gravette, with Terry Longan officiating. Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Robert Patrick Dickey

Robert Patrick Dickey, 65, of Washington, died Dec. 7, 2010.

He was born in Borger, Tex., on Feb. 20, 1945, to John and Elizabeth Newland Dickey.

He was raised in the Gentry area and was a 1964 graduate of Gentry High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He worked for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept., and, after retirement, began a career in the insurance industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Jason Patrick.

He is survived by his wife, Bettyanne; a son, Jeff, of Washington; two daughters, Trisha Blake of California, and Tamara Dickey of New York; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, David Dickey of Fort Worth, Tex., Mike Dickey of Oakhurst, Okla .,and Dennis Dickey of Gentry; and a sister, Mary Ellen McDowell of Gentry.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 16, at Word of His Grace Church in Bothell, Wash.

Patricia Peterson

Patricia Leeann Peterson, 70, of Gravette, died Dec. 5, 2010, at her home.

She was born Sept. 8, 1940, in Detroit, Mich. She grew up in the home of Clara and Alma Vogel in Cass City and Caro, Mich. She attended Vennard College in Iowa and Kansas City College and Bible School in Overland Park, Kan. She worked with the Salvation Army and Baptist Hospital in Springfield, Mo. She married Robert Peterson in 1964. She worked as a school bus driver, truck driver, restaurant cook and, after moving to the Gravette area about 25 years ago, was a truck driver for Peterson Industries. Her hobbies included fishing and working with crafts.

She was a member of the Church of God (Holiness) in Gravette, where a memorial service was held Dec. 10. Cremation and arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Rosalee Pittman

Rosalee Ora Pittman, 88, of Bentonville, formerly of Gravette, died Dec. 5, 2010, in Bentonville.

She was born June 3, 1922, in Shattuck, Okla., to John and Eva McCormick Pittman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Pittman.

Survivors include three sons, John Pittman and wife Helena of Bentonville, Michael Pittman and wife Patricia of Kellar, Tex., and Tommy Pittman and wife Helen of Sierra Vista, Ariz.;one brother, one sister, seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 10 at Open Door Baptist Church in Rogers, with entombment at Benton County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Rogers. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home.

Bobby Setser

Bobby Lee Setser, 65, of Garfield, died Dec. 11, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1946, in Gravette, to Orval and Dell Hamilton Setser. He was a lifelong resident of Benton County. He attended elementary school at Gravette and graduated from Bentonville High School.He was a heavy equipment operator for Benton County and area companies. He was also a diesel mechanic and welder for area firms. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Setser.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hollaway Setser, whom he married May 25, 1968; two daughters, Michelle Dye and husband John, and Melita Setser, all of Garfield; one brother, Dean Setser of Avoca; one sister, Marge Gentry of Avoca; and two granddaughters.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Bayless Cemetery with Frankie Sutherland officiating.

Arrangements were bySisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

Betty Sims

Betty “Bea” Sims, 73, of Springdale, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1937, in Rogers, to Ben and Lucy Matteson. She retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken; she served as head of GA’s and was a member of Berry Street Baptist Church in Springdale.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kennard Sims; a daughter, Angela Jennings and husband Scott of Westville, Okla.; four grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; one brother, Albert Matteson and wife Bonnie of Gentry; and two sisters, Grace Bray of Joplin, Mo., and Ida Marie Miller of Joplin, Mo.

Funeral service was Dec. 9 at Berry Street Baptist Church, with John Smedley and Don Seigler officiating. Committal was at Elm Springs Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.

Hurshel Keith

The funeral service for Hurshel Keith, 89, of Hiwasse. who died Dec. 13, will be at 11 a.m., Dec. 18, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, following visitation from 9 to 11 a.m.. An obituary will be published in next week's issue.
