Rex Lee Elder

Rex Lee Elder, 72, of Siloam Springs and formerly of Gravette, died Dec. 19, 2010, at Regency Hospital of Northwest Arkansas.

He was born June 29, 1938, in Gentry, to Darrell Elder and Ethel Bayley Elder. He was a lifetime resident of Northwest Arkansas and was the owner and operator of The Life Insurance Shop and Rex Elder Realty. He enjoyed golfing. He married Sandra Gunter on Sept. 29, 1964.

Survivors include his wife Sandra of the home; one daughter, Mary Lea Elder of Centerton; one brother, Les Elder of Maysville; and three sisters, Shirley Jane of Kansas, Okla., Carol Guimarin Zotti of Denver, Colo., and Una Dawdy of Cave Springs.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

William O. Johnson

William Oliver “Bill” Johnson, 70, of Bentonville, died Dec. 18, 2010, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born Nov. 19, 1940, in Gentry, to William B. Johnson and Iris Loop Johnson. He was a lifetime resident of Northwest Arkansas and was a truck driver for Simmons Foods for 29 years. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary A. Warner Johnson.

Survivors include one son, Billy Don Johnson of Southwest City, Mo.; three stepsons, James Anthony Tonsing of Bartlesville, Okla., Jim Short of Clarkston, Wash., and Wayne Cooper of Gentry; one daughter, Iris O’Leary of Colcord, Okla.; one stepdaughter, Julie Ann Brown of Bentonville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clark Johnson of Seattle, Wash.

Graveside services were Dec. 21 at Fairmount Cemetery, near Gentry, with Jim Whisenant officiating.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Everett King Jr.

Everett “Lawrence” King Jr., 63, of Springdale, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at his home.

He was born Dec. 28, 1946, in Sacramento, Calif., to the late Everett King Sr. and Elvia (Leach) King. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building things with his children, animals (especially his birds), and his grandchildren most of all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lucy Marie King.

Survivors include his wife Judy of the home; sons, Everett Lawrence King III and his wife Lisa of Highfill, Brian King and his wife of Gravette, Justin Everett King and his wife Michelle of Lincoln, John Clayton King and his wife Samantha of Elkins, and Jesse Setzer and his wife Michelle; daughters, Theresa Lynn Hendershot and her husband Jim of Springdale, and Melissa Dean; brother, Calvin King; stepsons, Tony Byler and Gregory Tate; several grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

Services were Dec. 16, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Kirsten Mayfield

Kirsten Mayfield, 63, of Decatur, died Dec. 11, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born May 11, 1947, in Kristiansand, Norway, to Jahn Bjunes and Ingebjorg Marie Lie. She worked for the Topps Company for 13 years in New York City and at the Gravette Hospital.

Survivors include a stepson, Scott Mayfield of Mobile, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Karen Hunter of Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned with no local services.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Roy Lee Sikes

Roy Lee Sikes, 42, of Springtown, died Dec. 16, 2010, at his home.

He was born Aug. 10, 1968, in Siloam Springs, to Bob Lee Sikes, Jr. and Francis Louise Wilmoth Sikes. He was a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas and was a graduate of Gentry High School. He enjoyed building model cars and was active in the Sager Creek Arts Center in Siloam Springs. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Gentry.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Workman, and his grandparents, Bud and Daisy Wilmoth, and Bob Sikes Sr.

Survivors include his father, Bob Sikes, and stepmother Deborah of Siloam Springs; and his grandmother, Della Sikes of Gentry.

Funeral services were Dec. 20, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Timothy James Walton

Timothy James Walton, 26, of Siloam Springs, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010.

He was born in Siloam Springs on July 15, 1984, to Jerry Walton and Cindy Smith Walton. He was a lifelong resident of Siloam Springs, graduating from high school in 2003. He also attended Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale. He had a career in the purchasing and accounting fields with McDonald’s, IGA Foods, H&R Block and R&R Industries in Gravette.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Walton; and his paternal great-grandmother, Julie Mae Kirby; and by his maternal greatgrandparents, Margaret and Leon Burks; and greatgrandfather, Stanley Howley.

He is survived by his mother and father; and by a brother, Brian and his wife, Kanette Walton; a sister, Heather Walton; and maternal grandparents, Jim and Marilyn Smith of Keller, Texas; and maternal great-grandmother, Sara Howley.

Funeral services were Dec. 17 at the Hart Funeral Home, Westville, Okla. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
