Gentry grapplers finish in fourth place in Pioneer Holiday Classic

— The Gentry Pioneers took fourth place in the Pioneer Holiday Classic wrestling tournament held at Gentry High School last weekend.

With wrestling teams from nine schools participating, Gentry finished fourth in the tournament held on Friday and Saturday.

Kolby Rankin and Tanner Coy finished first in their weight classes, with Barney Cheney and Eli Blackmon-Stewart finishing second in their divisions. Steven Thao andBryar Preuss finished in third.

As a team, Gentry finished with 130 points. Ahead of the Pioneers were Fayetteville with 168 points, Har-Ber with 158, and Conway with 152.

Other teams included Diamond, Little Rock Christian Academy, Springdale, Bentonville and Heritage. Junior varsity teams from Gentry, Har-Ber, Springdale and Fayetteville also competed over the weekend, with Har-Ber and Fayetteville picking up additional points with their JV teams.

The Pioneers won the 4A state championship last season.
