GRAVETTE — Eleven members of the Gravette Lions football team have been tapped for State or All-Conference honors, according to Coach Bill Harrelson.
Kicker/punter Cody Montee was named All-Star nominee. His toe made the difference in many of the Lions victories during the season. The 6-2, 216-pound senior connectedon 32 of his 35 extra-point attempts; he kicked 9 out of 12 field goal attempts; and his punting average was 41.5 yards, the coach said.
Named to All-State honors are Cody Bullock, 5-8, 165-pound senior lineman, and Darrick Strzelecki, 5-6, 164-pound junior back.
Named to the 1-4A All-Conference squad are:
◊Senior Kahlief Steele, 6-0, 200 -pound nose guard
◊Senior Trey Tyner, 5-9, 180-pound cornerback
◊Senior T. J. Chevallier,6-0, 218-pound offensive lineman
◊Senior Tyler Glenn, 5-9, 234-pound offensive lineman
◊Junior Kelton McDougal, 5-11, 200-pound linebacker
◊Junior Logan Hirsch, 5-10, 173 pound linebacker
◊Junior Clayton Alexander, 6’2”, 163-pound safety
◊Junior Jeremy McGarrah, 6-1, 230-pound offensive lineman.
The Lions ended the regular season with a 9-1 record, losing only to Shiloh Christian, who repeated as 4-A State Champions.
The Lions, who drew a bye in first round of state playoffs, dropped a 16-3 decision to Trumann on a cold November night at Lion Field to end the season.
