Tenth Graders Will Have BMI Screens; Exemption Possible

— All students in Grade 10 are required to have a BMI (Body Mass Index) screening according to Arkansas State Law, Gravette school officials announced.

Act 1220, which was passed in 2003, does allow for parents who do not want their children to be screened. They are requested to “sign a form that is being sent home with the students and return it to the school one week prior to the screening.”

The screening of all tenth grade students, not so exempt, will be done on Tuesday, February 16, according to Karen Kerr, R.N., Gravette High School.
